The Day AFTER a Red Carpet.......

......everyone becomes a critic!

I am here today to only talk about the dresses I adored, though, and will leave out the ones I could have done without. WHAT is our fashion/celebrity world coming to when there was not a single dress I completely despised? Sure, I didn't love all of the looks, but I never once had to gag or spit out of my drink in shock of someone..........

unless you count Ryan Seacrest getting ashed by the Dictator. Yowza......
{More so than the Dictator, I couldn't stand the bitches next to him....
they looked like they had sticks up their asses and their makeup just
highlighted their botox and overtanned skin. YIKES!}

First and foremost, though, all ashes aside, here is my FAVORITE look of the night.......
Jessica Chastain
{She looked amazing. Her hair and jewelry and skintone matched the dress perfectly. I may be biased because it's an Alexander McQueen gown and it was custom-made by Sarah Burton (win-win-win-wiiiin), but no one can deny this look is flawless. If you don't agree, I really don't know if we can continue being friends in this way. Jessica killed it with edge in a sea of dresses that, while great, were not "wow" factors for me.}

My girl, as always, did a fantastic job. I loved her little stint on the stage while presenting more, though. COULD she be any cuter? I think not. Girl crush established. She is just too flipping cool.
Emma Stone
{I didn't love the dress at first but after a bit of time seeing it on her more and more, it grew on me fast. I think it helped that her hair looked great, too. Had she worn it down or even half-up, it would have killed the look for me. Thankfully, mah girl knows what's up and pulled out a show-stopppaahh!}

Other greats looks include some one-shoulder bizzznisss.....
Stacy Keibler, Milla Jovovich, Rose Byrne
Fiiinne, I'll admit this just once...Stacy is an attractive broad. Done. She doesn't need more compliments...she has Georgy freaking Clooney on her arm.
Milla looks fabulous pairing her red lip to a white/cream gown...old Hollywood meets a bit of edge (simply because it is Mila!)
Rose Byrne's sleek hair with the sequined gown and open back just exuded class with sass...the best of both worlds! (Still not better than her jumpsuit, though, loved that look).

Who were some of your favorites? Did you have any that you completely hated? I really wanted to like Shailene Woodley's dress, but it just didn't work for me. Great dress....just not for her. HUGE, huge improvement from her SAG Awards disaster dress, though!
Also, Angelina....just stop. You're making EVERYONE look bad. Seriously. Stop the madness.
All of the Bridemaids looked pretty darn good. I didn't love all of their looks, but I can't deny that they looked polished and put together and showed effort in their overall appearance. Kudos!

Until next time, I am sad to see awards season go, but at least it stops making the rest of us look that much worse in comparison to Hollywood Elite..........................................

SS's Take on GG

Gawd, can you smell that? The hairspray, heavy perfume, and awkward tanning lotion?!
It must be award season. & how wonderful it smells, indeed!
Let's ignore the smells for just a smidgen, though, so we can talk about the red carpet.
Because writing this blog is much more interesting than the lessons I should be writing right now.

"Don't you have MLK day off, though, SS?"
HA -- the kiddos do, but we do not. I wouldn't complain....if it wasn't for the fact I stayed out until 1:30am last night trying to prove I am not an old bore anymore to SSB. Let's just saying....this morning? Woof.

THE OVERALL THOUGHTS
Was it just me or did everyone play it safe?! Solid colors may be in, simple cuts may be banging, but really, I only saw a few "wow" dresses. The rest were fantastic, no less, but not anything that made me text one of my friends to say, "did you seeee that?!" -- If you needed a fantastic play-by-play, check out Courtney Kerr's twitter feed from last night. She is the funny (and ridiculously) fashionable gal from Most Eligible Dallas -- a show I only watched because her monologues were hilar.

THE GREAT
Emma Stone -- If I had to choose a "girl crush," Emma would be my pick. She had me ever since she sang to the "Pocketful of Sunshine" card in that highschool movie. Anyways, this dress, the color, the eagle belt, it all worked for me. She rocked it from head to toe, nothing on her was off. Best Dressed win for me!
Reese Witherspoon -- She makes me regret ever being anything but my natural sunny hue! Dear gawwd her hair may look like she just had a romp in the sheets, but she rocked it! The dress at first glance (on E's red carpet show) looked leather, which was ah-mazing...but even after discovering it was not, it still looked fantastic. She nails it almost anytime just because she is seriously gorgeous.
Dianna Agron -- This was the "wow" dress for me. So many people will probably place her in the "bad" category, but I think she did really well with this choice. Red is a great color for blondes, a great color to be fun with, and she stepped outside the "simple" box, so I commend her for that alone. Hair and makeup were great complements, too!

THE GOOD
Zooey Deschanel -- I wanted to love this but I could only like it. It looked great on her, went well with who she is, but the hair....did anyone notice the awkward curls that mimicked bad sideburns when she was being interview on the carpet?! I couldn't look away! The rest of the 'do was great and the tuxedo nails? Adorable just like her! I wish she went slightly more elegant but I don't fault her for sticking true to herself....and in a custom gown no less!
Nicole Richie -- She is one of my fashion bitches, but she fell short on something here...I just don't know what that something is. The dress is great, if perhaps slightly too simple (shocker), the hair is nice but perhaps an updo would dress this, errm, dress better. It's as though there could have been five more minutes in the styling session to take this up a notch to hit a true high note.
Jessica Biel -- Already preparing for her nuptials I see?! Test-driving dresses during awards season, perhaps? She looks gorgeous, of course, but this dress just was not right for the event. I would easily wear something similar to my wedding, but for an award show, and one you aren't even nominated in?! Go in another direction....one less on the path to Vera Wang and more on the side of, I don't know, Prada or Dior Couture?

THE BAD
Salma Hayek -- Gorgeous woman....so why mess with your perfect face by adding an army of gold on your huge chest?! BAD....a terrible travesty! The bottom was nice but didn't match the top for me at all, as if the real bottom of the dress somehow was ripped by her bodacious bod and they had to pull off a silk tablecloth to save the night. Better luck next time.
Evan Rachel Woof (I mean, Wood) -- HOW many animals were harmed in the making of this dress? The sequins look like lizard skin or snake skin....and adding feathers? On an emerald dress? Pick a texture and stick to it....otherwise, you look like a 5-year-old made your GG dress during Arts&Crafts....and it was the 5-year-old that doesn't exactly make "fridge worthy" art....
Rooney Mara -- The shape, the cut, the bows by the boobs....none of this worked for me. She has such a tender and delicate face but it is matched with her harsh 'do and ill-fitting dress. I get that her hair is the way it is from her role, but still....she should have stuck to the delicate details....a dress in a lighter shade, even, would have saved this disaster. (& the fur jacket in the background is just a bonus for you all! hah)

I am sure there are tons of other faaaabulous bloggers out there that shared their thoughts on the Golden Globes. Do we agree, disagree, did I happen to miss a travesty or a masterpiece? Fill me in!

Until next time, be glad you aren't being judged as harshly (by Joan Rivers) as these celebs are about to be....you know, if you're feeling like your Monday just isn't going well, puts things in perspective, sort of, kind of.............

Perfection and Rejection : Emmy Awards

Screw fall and its carmel apples, pumpkin spice lattes, and crisp leaves. Forget about the chilly air, the football games, and garish holidays. (Ok, I love all this stuff as much as the next bitch, let's not kid ourselves.)

What I'm currently lusting after, though, were the fashions (and people!) at the Emmys. Actors in movies are so "Dahhhhling, you look faaaaabulous, we musssst collaborate together soooon." Emmy folks are all "Good luck, who cares who wins, we still make money, let's drink!" SO much more my style ;)

I know I'm a day late, but I'm here to show you who SS loved....and loathed....and some other noteable stars. Oh, and I'll preface this all by saying HELL YES Modern Family. Love that show, they deserved it! As did Mad Men for Outstanding Drama, even if none of their actors won in their own categories.

PERFECTION

{Kristen Wig, Lea Michele, Kelly Osbourne, Naya Rivera, Julia Stiles}
1. Funny and stylish. Everything I strive to be. If I were there, I would have ripped this off her and changed into it on the spot. I'm not known for my patience.
2. Props need to be given regardless of how ridiculously staged and rehearsed her poses are. The color, the shoulders, the back, love-el-ly!
3. Love her opinions on Fashion Police, this dress is stun-ning! Color, cut, fit, shape, gawwwwd, LOVE!
4. Simple and sexy and chic with just the right amount of flare and funk.
5. So pretty and graceful....probably two antonyms to describe her show :) Love her always, esp. as Kat in 10 Things....
Other Note-Worthy Stars: Minka Kelly (love lace!), Connie Brinton (hair is gorgeous!), Claire Danes (so fun!), and Elisabeth Moss (goooodbye Peggy!)

REJECTION
{Julianna Margulies, Jayma Mays, Heather Morris, Dianna Agron, Olivia Mun}
1. There are no words, no explaination as to why anyone would wear a lamp shade corset adorned with cystals from the craft store. At least she won an Emmy to make up for her soon-to-be Worst Dressed award!
2. She plays this overtly clean and conservative counselor on TV, so why not step outside the box a bit in real life? Between the bow clip, the pale color, and the tiered skirt, I just don't know what I hate the most.....so I'll be fair....and hate all of it equally!
3. Just not a wise decision...it looks dated and too young (and cheap). Again, these Glee people need to step outside the highschool box....I should know, I'm in a real one everyday!
4. This isn't actually that bad because DA is a gorgeous girl, but I'm bummed she played it safe like this. She should have worn her wild haircut down and did something more edgy and fun for the Emmys....this dress looks slightly backwards; the color is the only thing saving it, really.
5. The most unflattering dress! The stripes and color make it look a little to ornate for my liking. It's too early for candycane looks when I haven't even eaten a candy corn yet!
Other NO-Worthy Stars: Anna Farris (too busy!), Heidi Klum (really want to like this but can't!), Paz de la Huerta (just google it!), and Taraj Henson (looks too much like a bedazzled slip!)

All the photos posted are c/o People -
go there to check out my Note-Worthy & NO-Worthy stars to form your own opinion ;)

So there you have it, my personal thoughts on the Emmy fashions! I look forward to hearing your input, too. I know I'll get flack for placing DA in the Rejection category, but she didn't play to her strengths, bad decision!

Look out for another "Fall Favorites" post tomorrow :)

Until next time, farewell love bugs......

Top 10 Award : Skincare Edition

I, oddly enough, did another video. This time it's for an award I won and I filmed the "skincare tag" portion of it. If you don't want to watch the video (just under 10 minutes long), the writing is below for your reading pleasure. I think the video habit will die out after this weekend, so don't think I've changed my mind about liking writing better ;) Just trying out this system a bit, testing the beauty waters, ya dig?
Note: It's slightly choppy, I talked too much so I tried to cut a lot out! It also totally neglects the body wash that I mention below in the writing, so sorry about that, too! I just ran out so I didn't have the bottle to show, whoops!

I totally stole the whole setup idea from the blogger who awarded me. Her design is much cuter, but her entire blog is that way, so go and check her out! Thanks Antiqued Gold :) Also, Glitter and Granola awarded me, too, so a big thank you to both of them. Such cute blogs so you really need to go and follow them - you heard it hear first! (I thanked them in the original video but then had to cut it out - again, too long!!)
1. Aveeno Ultra Calming Moisturizer
2. Philosophy Purity 1-Step Cleanser
3. Neosporin Night Renewal Lip Treatment
4. Neutrogena Body Clear Body Scrub in Pink Grapefruit (not mentioned in video)
5 Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant (has a "try me" label on it because it's from my sister's salon - no worries, it wasn't opened for consumers before I bought it - that'd be gross, no?)
6. Yes To Tomatoes Daily Pore Scrub
7. Rosebud Lip Salve
8. Glysolid Glycerin Cream (http://www.glysolid.com/)
9. The Body Shop's Vitamin E Eye Cream
10. Marc Jacobs Daisy Lotion

Many of my favorite blogs have already received this award, but considering it is about skincare, I picked the people who I think discuss beauty ridiculously well. They seem like the gals that would know a thing (or twenty) about good skincare, and they are:

AlmostBritain - Does awesome EOTD posts
Dream Out Loud - A sincere blogger with a seriously cute blog
Blushed Pearls - Creative post ideas and I never tired of them
Angie B. - Posts awesome photos to get any blogger inspired
Procrastinating Pretty - My virtual friend who can do it all
Hannah Michelle - An Aussie girl who has great attention to detail/beauty/fashion

Hope you all have a great week ahead of you. This week marks my last five day work week! After this week I only work on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday through the rest of summer. Hell to the yes, you have no idea how happy this makes me! (If you really want to know why this makes me happy, read this post HERE!)

As always, until next time, farewell my love bugs!

Didn't Even Know It's FRIDAY!

This week has been a bit odd, and I only knew it was Friday when I walked into Starbucks and saw my barista boyfriend wearing his Starbucks t-shirt instead of the typical button-ups they have to wear. Yeah, is that pathetic, because I sort of thought it was. Either way, it IS Friday and I am so glad to still have the rest of today and the weekend off before going back to - gasp! - nanny work on Monday...sad face.

In brighter news, I would like to thank Blushed Pearls for awarding me the "Versatile Blogger" award. I was unaware that my blog is versatile, but considering I interject my beauty with rants on fashion and the everyday life, I suppose I'm not just your cookie-cutter beauty blogger. Thumbs up for me and thumbs up for Blushed Pearls, go check her out!

Rules (I'll make this quick!)

1. 10 Random Facts (I'll try to come up with extremely random ones so I don't bore you and repeat facts from Friday Facts or other posts....)
2. Award Bloggers

GO!

1. I just went tanning (don't judge) and I used a tingle lotion. WORST decision I've made in a long time. I'm staying out of the bed and away from anything that makes my skin feel like it's melting :( Sorry if that gave anyone a bad visual.
2. I hate feet. They really, really bother me...even the pretty little cute ones. Ok, I can handle baby feet, but normally, I detest feet. Gag.
3. I have a baby blanket and it's already torn into three pieces. One of the three pieces had a tiny tear come off, so my mini lamb sleeps with it now...he has his own baby blanket. Yep, I'm 23. No big deal.
4. I really don't like drinking water. It does nothing for me. I mean, I know it does a lot for me, but I'm using that statement in the cliche form. It really just doesn't work for me. I can drink flavored water or club soda, but not the plain shit....unless I'm working out....which rarely happens.
5. I am still WAY too pissed off about Casey Anthony. I have no idea why because I didn't even follow the entire trial, but I will forever hate that scum of earth piece of shit.
6. I just found out I have a quarter of Cherokee Indian in me while vacationing last week. Explains why I wanted feathers so badly...doesn't explain the bright blonde hair. I can thank the Irish in me for that!
7. I really, really love the show Weeds. Like, a lot. Mondays just got a little brighter because of Season 7 (hah, season 7, fact 7, I'm good!)
8. I dream almost every night. That's not good, means you're not sleeping soundly. Damnit. They're always bad ones, too, so clearly I have anxiety issues. Nothing coffee and alcohol can't fix, though ;)
9. I have cheated on Words With Friends before by using an online Scrabble Cheater. There, I said it. I had to, I couldn't lose to a fellow student, then I'd be a terrible teacher!
10. I think the people who read all ten of these facts are way cooler than me and if you're new, I'll be sure to follow your blog, because if you can actually sit through all these facts, you're kind of awesome.

I wanted to give this award to the people who I truly think are very versatile and, of course, the ones I love reading. Pretty sure I name some of the same people all the time, but I like reading their blogs, so they deserve it!

Mary Lane/The Blonde - Love her posts, she always has something new and fresh to offer...never boring and has some funny punchlines, that's for sure! Check her out.

Procrastinating Pretty - I've awarded her everything I've received because she deserves it more than most of the bloggers I know (or read, whatever). She may stick to mostly beauty, but damn, the girl knows her shit. I already have told my readers to check her out, so if you're new, go and follow her page!

Living After Midnite - She delivers a lot of great posts; everything from fashion and beauty to her most recent on how to make popsicles from smoothies (why didn't I think of that?!) Gorgeous gal, one worth following for all the inside scoop on beauty-related things!

Love, Ainslee - She doesn't stick to any one topic and her blog is always refreshing to read. Whether it's just a post of great photos or a blog about the daily life, she covers it and does it very well!

Antiqued Gold - If it's possible to be a good writer, have posts covering so many (informative) topics, and have a page/text/photos that are so eye-catchingly awesome, then THIS is your go-to gal! Every time I read her posts, I either was just thinking the same thing or instantly want to buy what she writes about! She deserves you as a follower!

There are a lot of other bloggers out there that deserve the recognition, but most have already received the award, so I wanted to give it to those who don't have it but definitely deserve it!

I also have come to report that another Project X Pan item has bit the dust and is gone, gone, gone! My bronzer is finito and I used that sucker to the last little speck....after all, it's summer and I'm pale, I need to get mah bronzin' on! That's FOUR down and only six more to go. Let's be honest, I'm a terrible PXP-er, some of the products are nowhere near being finished and I still buy more. It should be noted, though, that I only buy products that are not still currently on the PXP list, so I'm not breaking the rules that much right? Hey, wait, this is my blog, so I say I'm not guilty!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I leave you with my EOTD - nothing fancy, but still sort of fun?
teal liner on the waterline....a nice pop of color, no?

Until next time, farewell lovahs.

"Best" Bitch in Town! (Kidding...)

Hello you love-el-ly people! I'm currently sitting at work while Mighty Morhpin Power Rangers plays in the other room, boys completely transfixed. Let me just say that I loved this show as a youngster and now seeing it in my 23-year-old form, I am so terribly disappointed. It's awwwwful! The whole "let's take a Japanese show and mesh it with American clips" fooled me in my younger days, but when Rita's voice never matches what she says and other aspects of the show just seem completely off, it's clear to me I was an idiot of a child and due to my wise nature now, this show just screams terrible. So sad.

Onto beauty blogging news! I won the same award TWICE while sleeping last night. I should go to bed listening to Bon Iver more often! Thanks to Chloe's Travels and Hannah Michelle for awarding me the "Best Blog" award. Considering the word "best" is quite the adjective, I feel all warm and flushed, and no, I haven't been drinking (although that would make the day easier/faster!) So I suppose I'll follow the rules now....let's do this.

1. Link back to the person/people who awarded you (above)
2. Share 7 random facts about yourself (already done HERE)
3. Award other bloggers (look below!)
4. Answer the following:

Favorite Color : Jade
Favorite Song : Tough, but I'd say "Clarity" by John Mayer
Favorite Dessert : Creme Brulee
Making You Pissy : My job, duh
When You're Upset, You : Go for a drive
Favorite Pet : Auz & Luna, of course (my love birds)
Black or White : Black (makes you look skinnier!)
Biggest Fear : Spiders
Best Feature : Eyes, I guess?
Everyday Attitude : "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." Best quote ever.
What is "Perfection" : Everyone should have their own definition to this word. Being true and natural, though, create a good foundation for something so unattainable.
Guilty Pleasure : Any TV show on Bravo

I'm awarding these people because A) they are fan-freaking-tastic and/or B) I look forward to reading their blogs any and every time I'm on here! I also awarded people who should be recognized more in the blogging world! I even put them in alphabetical order! Look at this girl goooo :)

I'm off to start lunches and hope that the rest of my day flies by! TGIF, I am so very much looking forward to the weekend. No real plans but at least I get to sleep in and not have kiddos hanging all over me for two whole days! I may do another "Summer Haul" if I ever make it to Ulta and the mall this weekend. Yesss, just watching the money burn through my wallet. Damnit.

Until next time, enjoy your weekend and farewell lovahs....

Blogger Award

TWO posts in ONE day? Insanity. Technically, my OOTD post below is sort of from Saturday (as I had not gone to sleep yet so it was not yet a new day) but posted it in the wee hours of today, so there you have it.

I received an award - really, me? Yes, yes I did. The generous Tjasa (Beauty Bag) gave this award to me and I think it's fantastic! If only it came with a trophy or ribbon - but the sidebar photo isn't too shabby either ;)
The rules that follow with said award:

1. Thank and link back to the person who sent the award (This shouldn't be a "rule" - it should just happen out of pure courtesy!)
2. Share 7 things about yourself (As if my "Friday Facts" posts weren't enough!)
3. Award recently discovered bloggers (I award five in the honor of May being the fifth month - I'm nothing if not a lover for archetypes!)
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award (Again, should just be done out of courtesy - I just award them and never tell them? Ludicrous.)

Seven (very quick) Things About Me:
1. My go-to shades to wear are blue and black.
2. I have small feet - size 5.5 or 6, depending on store/brand.
3. I have never seen a scary movie - this will never change, either.
4. I cannot go to Target without buying a makeup item - it's a problem.
5. I love Babybell cheese - Tomato Basil makes any sad day happy! ("Have you laughed today?")
6. I have two older sisters & a twin brother - my brother and I are easily the best dressed siblings of the family (must come from all the years my mom "matched" us!)
7. I try to be presentable anytime I am in public - never wear sweats, hoodies, or sneakers. I actually don't even own sneakers (actually, I wear old cheering shoes to workout - I'm pathetic, I know)

There you have it, seven not-so-exciting things about me!

Now the fun part!

I chose these ladies for obvious reasons - I love reading their blogs and they're not only stylish in the fashionable sense, but just all-around stylish in personality (i.e. classy, witty, etc.) and you should follow their blog if you're reading this right now!

1. The Procrastinator
2. Rachel
3. Beautyful Fashion
4. Lauren
5. Hannah Michelle

I apologize if any of you have already received such an award - consider yourself twice (or even thrice!) times as stylish!

I'm off to enjoy Mother's Day with my mother and family - hope you all enjoy the day!
