Five Friday...Teacher Attire

As I sit here with a white trash combo of Chardonnay and a splash of ginger ale (I know, I scream classy) I feel like I should blog and write about something.....

......but I got nothing. (except for saying this is obvi a scheduled post, seeing as how I am not drinking on the job before 8am.....OR am I?)

I could blame many, many things on my lack of blogging, but really, I have nothing for you that would be anything but a sorry, lame excuse. Also, I still cannot find my damn camera cord, and taking iPhone photos is getting ooooold, so I have pulled what creative juices I have left and re-created my work attire for you in Polyvore form. Most of these include at least one actual piece from my outfits this past week (including today's) and all of the outfits are virtually the exact same in terms of style, color, fit, and overall look. Polyvore, you're too damn good!

Indulge....and Happy {Five} Friday!

Monday - We had an in-service full of meetings and no kiddos. Time to play it super casual! & those are actually the new boots I got (Jessica Simpson), super cute!

Tuesday - I honestly never wear pink, but somehow, my new hot pink blouse from F21 is a fast favorite! I felt so pulled together while still feeling on trend. Even the kiddos complimented me on the color -- they have their cute moments after all. I was feeling extra festive, too, so I added bright F21 rings to finish off the look!

Wednesday - LOVE myself a good wrap dress. You cannot go wrong with a good black and red combo...comfortable but still professional, best of both worlds! Target (where my red wrap dress is from) is a great place to search for cute and affordable work clothes!

Thursday - I am one of the advisers for our SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) club and 2/23 was "Purple Day" in order to raise awareness and show support against teen dating violence. This purple tee was only $7 from Old Navy....such a cute color for spring! I had on a scarf that had the exact same blue and purple tones as this Missoni one, too! Something about a maxi dress and my cropped F21 white/black color blocking blazer pulled the whole outfit up to an extremely professional level, despite the casual t-shirt. SUCH a comfortable outfit, too!

Friday - Even though we are allowed to wear jeans on Friday, I always dress up my top half with a blazer or nice blouse so I don't blend in too much with the kiddos. My Aldo booties are still my favorite and the kiddos love 'em, too, oddly enough!

I try to keep my outfits balanced between cute/trendy and business/professional. My students always ask where I find all of my clothes, and little do they know MOST come from stores they shop at.....like F21 and Old Navy. Yeah, bitches, I'm just that crafty ;) Make it werrrk, sistah!

Have a fabulous weekend, enjoy yourselves! I'll leave you with my latest purchase/splurge and a photo of me and Mr.SSB from our Valentine's Day weekend dinner (where we hit up da club afterwards to meet his friends.....yeah, we keep it real...and sweaty).

Until next time, I'm off to enjoy my own weekend and relish in all the beauty that is the END of February.....................

Five Friday...Who is Boner-vair?!

I realize that the Grammy awards were a few days ago (or almost an entire week ago), so this post may be a tad late, but this is my blog, sooooo let me be lazy and eat my lazy cake, too, kay?!

I am not here to ramble on and on about the great and not-so-great fashions (YES to Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood for fabulous dresses and NO to Nicki Minaj for just....no), but rather, I want to discuss what the Grammys are truly about.....YESH, sir, it's time for an SS musical ssss-nack time ;)

After reading a tumblr page completely dedicated to poking fun at this artist, I thought to myself, "How on earth am I one of the (apparent) few who not only know of this man, but thoroughly enjoy his music?!" I meeeean, it made sense when momma and poppa bear asked me who the gruffly man was on SNL a couple weeks back, but youngsters like us? Shenanigans!

PLEASE, for the love of all that is music, take a few minutes and listen to the following songs from one of my favorites, BON IVER (pronounced bonnyvare or bone-E-vair)......you know, that bearded dude who won best new artist this past Sunday.
Fun Fact #1: His song "Skinny Love" is under the top ten most played songs on my iTunes since adding his first two albums to my iPod in 2009. Yes. He is winning best new artist nearly three years later. Again, shenanigans. Wasn't the Gaga-ster up for it last year? Those silly Grammys!
Fun Fact #2: His song "Woods" is featured in Kanye West's song "Lost in the World" -- a fantastic song, so check it out here!

Warning: Do not listen to Bon Iver if you don't appreciate the slower, more melodic tones (no, I'm not being sarcastic). Honestly, his music may bore some to tears (like SSB) but enlighten others (like me). He has the voice to make me cry in the shower and rejoice in the pleasure of a sunny day.....all in the same album. He's true, raw talent, no gimmicks included, which is why he was a great choice to win this year. (Still love my girl Nicki, but I could have done without the odd performance.....)

For FIVE FRIDAY, here are five great songs by the ever-so-enchanting Bon Iver....

Skinny Love

The Wolves (Act I and II)

re:stacks

Calgary

Beth/Rest

If you were lazy and couldn't click play on any of these songs (shaaame, they're SO good!!), go pull out your best pirate impression (see what I did there?!) and get all of his albums: Blood Bank (EP), For Emma Forever Ago, and Bon Iver. I promise, if you love music that is slower and overflowing with feeling, you will not be disappointed in the slightest!

Until next time, please let me know what you think of Mr. Bon Iver (or Justin Vernon) AND inform me of any artist that you love so I can check them out...................

Your Shoes are Schmokin'

Riddle me this....what's black and white and red all over?
My feet in a great pair of black&white heels after teaching all day. Not that I have black&white heels, but the POINT here, people, is that after a day in heels (of any color variation), my feet usually are red and very sleepy.

Let's be real, they down right hate me at the end of a teaching day.
Maybe I should skip on the heel, but anything below three inches looks "awk" for sure on me.
Maybe I should just invest in wedges? If only heels weren't so damn cute!

SO then, SS, what's your game plan?

Against my better judgement (seeing as how 99.9% of the student body is taller than me), I may invest in some flats again. Yes, I rocked them during high school and throughout college. These days, though, if I can rock a heel, gosh damnit, I will. Now, though, it may be a smart idea to get some cute flats in the shoe closet....and one pair in particular has caught my attention and I'm drawn in fo' reals.

The shoe being ever-so loved at the moment? The smoker flat or slipper loafer. Really, whatever name you prefer works for me!

Here are some awesome pairs (& some have an awesome price to match!) to round out this week with a Five Friday!

1. Target Turquoise Flat ($20) -- I love anything blue and this is a fantastic shade to add that perfect P.O.C (as Mr. Brad Goreski says!) to any outfit. I could rock these with dark jeans and a silk blouse for casual Fridays!

2. Target Black Flat ($20) - Love the patent look with this specific style of shoe. Something about the mix of the two gives them a classic feel, like I stole them from my mother's closet. Easily paired with jeggings and a chunky sweater for Sunday errands. (I may or may not already own these bad boys!)

3. BDG Woven Tassel Flat ($40)- If I wear this trend into summer, these are great! They come in three different colors but the classic tan never fails. Great to pair with short cut-offs and a loose graphic tank & touseled beach waves for a mix of preppy and boho.

4. Charolette Olympia Kitty Flat ($585)- I don't normally go for shoes like this, but I couldn't not post these on the list when I saw them. SO freaking clever! These would be great with a simple white v-neck and printed skirt or jeans and a leather jacket to toughen up the feline effect.

5. ShoeMint Kathy Flat ($80) - I have yet to order a pair from ShoeMint, but I may have to now after seeing these...and they are selling out fast online! Like the previous pair, I am not normally a red-wearing gal, but the print is so fresh and funky....and on such a structured shoe? It's truly the best of both worlds. & apparently I am now in love with tassels on shoes, too!

I realize now that the last three posts I have done are pictures followed by blurbs. Not very original, but my mind has been so full of sccchtuff lately that I didn't even notice it until now. My bad. I will try to be a more innovative blogger ;) You know, like, later and whatnot. Not now. I need to empty my brain first!

Until next time, have a faaaaabulous weekend!.....................

Five Friday - Resolutions!

Now that we've moved through Christmas and are SO very close to 2012, I thought I'd do a Five Friday of the resolution variety...you know, those things we all say we will totally do...and before the calendar even reaches the middle of January, we've already failed.
Admit it, we all do this.
Admit it, we all don't really care.

Well, this year, I do. Sort of. Kind of....I mean, I'm going to try!

2012 Resolutions! (Sort of....)

1. Fit into my bridesmaid's dress. No, this is not a strict, LOSE WEIGHT CHUNKER (whooo you callin' chunker?!) resolution, but rather, I need to tone my ass up (or really, my tum tum) before the wedding. It's in May. Calling all Richard Simmons, Jillian Michaels, and Tracey Andersons.....give me your best shot, I'll do my best not to cry in the shower after.
{"she'll never forgive me for skipping those crunches,
did you hear the way she was screaming at me?!"}

2. ALWAYS eat breakfast. I know, they say a Starbucks latte every morning is not a breakfast meal, but it is to me...or has been for a solid two years now. I eat breakfast on the weekend....sometimes. I need to go out and buy some good "grab and go" breakfast items, so let me hear your healthiest favorites! I can microwave it at work if need be, too, so what is your favorite quick meal?
{starbucks still has to be a part of my "balanced" breakfast....}

3. Keep my car clear of h2o bottles. Yeah, it sounds like a pathetic resolution, but you have probably not seen the passenger floor of my car, it's a disaster zone with half-filled bottles....and lots of them. Seeing as how I have myself a NEW CAR (said in my best Price is Right voice), I think I should kill it with the white trash bottle look and keep my new whip looking fly & fresh.
{i want to say i feel like a straight ganstahh in it, but it's more girly than
anything - lighted speakers & hands-free controls, though, baboom!
oh & my keys will never be bulkier that that, hate that look!}

4. Drink TWO bottles of h2o everyday. Hahahahaha I laugh at my audacity to state such a bold thing. Again, another sorry excuse for a resolution, but I am a terrible water drinker. I just don't like the stuff! However, I know it's absurd of me to not drink it, so I plan on making it taste good at least....you know, get rid of that, ugh, water taste. It's awful, really. However, if I can pull off this resolution, then maybe #3 won't be so hard to overcome, too! Genius, I tell you!
{should I just add these to my water, are they any good?!}

5. Actually keep my above resolutions. Hey, go with me on this one. If I follow this resolution, then I just followed every other resolution on my list. It's double the guilt if I make this resolution and don't follow through with the others, sooooo hopefully this one results in my (sort of) resolutions becoming a (definite) reality. Right? RIGHT?! Well, we'll see......
{classic.}

There you have it, my Five Friday -- resolution style! I hope you all realize these are not truly my big goals of 2012, but a list of things that are absurd and easily fixable and prove how ridiculous I am. Hope you have a list of these too ;)

For now, I cheers to you and yours and hope you have the best of times in 2012. I will be back "next year" to discuss my adventures in 2011 and share some photos, too!

Until next time, have fun watching that big ball drop (that came out terribly wrong)...........................

Five Friday - SS Santa Edition

How long has it been since I've done one of these?
Don't answer that.....

....I think I stopped because they just got monotonous, fo reals.
Seeing as how it is dangerously close to Santa's arrival, though, I thought maybe I'd do a mini wish list for my classic "Five Friday" post -- bring it back with some Christmas class, ya dig? ;)

Christmas dies a little when the fat red-suit man is no longer real and when your parents stop asking for a "wish list" (which mine still do, but not nearly to the feverish extent in former childhood years) BUMMER, seriously. This holiday really has sneaked (yeah, not snuck!) up on us this year, so I've had little time to consider my gifting options. Below are five that I would be happy to give or better yet...receive for myself, bitches!

1. Urban Decay's 24/7 Eye Pencil Travel Size Set of 5 in NAKED
Why not receive a gift that goes with the greatest eye palette of all time?! I think having mini neutral liners from UD would be an amazing gift. I would love to try these out, too, as I have never purchased one of the 24/7 pencils before. I know, I hear your hushed gasp of shock! Buttttttt, dear sisters, if you're reading, take note. Please & Thank You!
{I think they come in a great size, too, a serious deal!}

2. Ray-Ban Classic Aviators or Wayfarers
I am terrible with sunglasses, so I'm the classic girl who "doesn't deserve nice things." However, I love these sunnies so much, I would consider taking extra good care of them if someone was extra nice enough to give them to me (cough cough, SSB!) -- I would like the gold aviators or the classic black wayfarer....you know, because I'm clearly a badass.
{Ray-Ban knows their shit, for sure!}

3. Fur Throw Blanket
After seeing one of these bad boys at Marshall's recently (which, bee tee dubs, I've become obsessed with their home section as of late!), I had to have one....but didn't really feel like buying it. They are awesome, though! So many color options; a dark brown one with a plush side in addition to the fur. They also had one, though, that was a wild sandy fur color that was out.of.control, hunny! It would look bananas in my bedroom and I'd do Rachel Zoe so proud....and not only because I just used two of her catchphrases!
{Look, this one already comes with a nice bow for wrapping!}

4. New iPhone Case
I feel like I think about "needing" a new case more often than not. Really, I'd be fine and completely content without a new one....had my recent case not just committed pocket suicide. I pulled it out in a rush and the side (that was super-glued shut) caught my pocket & snapped to an unfixable point. I would consider repurchasing the same one (Andy Warhol's print of an old telephone) but wouldn't mind getting a new one that was a bit girlier. I currently have an EIGHT dollar one from ON (feels like highway robbery) that looks like an old cassette tape....pretty badass, but I could still use another option ;)
{DVF knows her clothes and now she does the iPhone beautiful justice, too!}

5. New MBMJ Watch
I love the one I already have, but I could always use a gold/rose gold option for those accessory days where a silver watch just isn't vibing with the rest of my outfit. Girl problems are so tough! I love simple watches, not into bling-tastic ones, but it needs to be masculine. I hate small watches. Yuck city. I mean, I'd be pretty freaking content with the one below!
{Love the two-tone style, simple but sleek}

This could sound totally bitch-tastic, but that was a fun "Five Friday" to do! Now that I got to write my own Christmas list, I feel much more into the holiday spirit. Granted, my family and friends have most likely finished their shopping already, but I'll be sure to keep these items in mind when I'm out shopping for myself post-Christmas...is that wrong of me? Probably. Do I care? Definitely not.

Until next time, I hope you are also diving whole-heartedly into the holiday season. I will be back to show some weekend pics of SSB and myself in awesome Christmas attire...............

SS Musical Snack!

I have done two previous music posts before, but as of late, there have been a few stand-outs that I have been blasting on YouTube during my free periods....where I may or may not (read may) take the time to have a serious solo dance session and fully enjoy the 42 minutes where students are not in my classroom.

Also, this falls into a FIVE FRIDAY, which I have not done since the first couple of months of my blogging career! Stop the madness.

If these songs make me want to jiggle my jello then it's only fair to assume they'll make you want to do the same! Feel free to get down with these tunes while prepping for your night(s) out this weekend....you can thank me later.

Rihanna - We Found Love

{this video takes me back to college where relationships were messy but you didn't care.}

Keri Hilson - The Way You Love Me
 {don't listen too closely to the lyrics...or watch the video.
unless you want to feel violated. hey, it still has a good beat!}

Florence + The Machine - Shake it Out
{she can do no wrong in my book, really. her new album is fan-freaking-tastic!}

Ellie Goulding - Lights (Bassnectar Remix)

{her album has been on repeat with me as of late...
listen to Bassnectar's "Cozza Frenzy" to feel badass, fo real!}

Chris Brown - Beautiful People
{i feel like i should be in some top nightclub with lights that make
people have seizures....but i'm just not cool enough for that.}

Is it just me or is it sort of funny that Rihanna started this list and Chris Brown ended it? I assure you that was not my intention. I would never, under any circumstance, ever find his former behavior acceptable or justified......but you have to admit this coincidence is somewhat humorous.
For the record, I don't typically listen to hip-hop or R&B like SSB loves to do, but you cannot deny they are good tunes for dancing it out when you're in doubt!
(Music Post #1 and Music Post #2)

Happy Friday and have a fantabulous weekend, folks!

Until next time, farewell my lovebugs.......

Five Friday

Like I said in my last post, the Five Friday Facts are donezo....sort of.  Instead I'm just going to stick with five things, varying in subject content, for the remainder of my Fridays....until I get bored and need to do something else.

TOP FIVE FASHION WANTS FOR SUMMER

I WANT...more maxi-dresses. I never really liked this look until this spring. I'm quite short so I always thought these looked so bizarre on me, but I have two so far that I bought recently and now I love this look. I know H&M and Forever21 have some budget-friendly maxis, so I really need to go and take a look soon!

I WANT...black wedges. I already have a great pair of brown wedges (posted in this OOTD) but I need a black pair. I don't want patent or even leather, it needs to have a very small peep top or no peep toe at all, and I'm looking for a pair with the natural cork or tan wedge, not an all black wedge. If this makes sense to you, and you know where to find such a pair, FILL ME IN! I'd seriously go and buy them tomorrow if someone could tell me where these bad boys are!

I WANT...a wide-brimmed hat. I have a wool one from winter but I'd really like another for summer in a lighter weight. I don't want the typical big, super floppy hat that seems to always be in when it's time to hit the beach, but a more structured version that feels slightly seventies. I love my summer fedoras, but with the 70s trend coming back, I really want a hat like this.

I WANT...feathers in my hair! I am a teacher (in case this is your first time reading my blog) so the feather look wouldn't fly over too well during the school year but now that we're so close to the finish line, and my sister's salon is getting these in any day now, I'm stoked to add these to my summer "wardrobe." I think I'll just go with the natural-looking color and maybe add them on both sides but more so underneath my hair so they peak out every so often. Do you have these, do you love them? Are they easy to style/manage?

I WANT...John Lennon sunnies. For the fact that I will probably be kicking myself next summer when I look back on photos from this summer coming up for wearing these bad boys, I still want them. Also for the same fact about kicking myself, I don't want to spend the $150 it is for Ray-Ban's spot-on version of these, so does anyone know where a simple look-a-like pair is that isn't in the three-digit price range? I should just look on e-bay and see if anyone else has decided they need to sell theirs because they look crazy, but I still love love love them!

So there you have it, my five friday : summer edition! Looking at the collection of them in the photo above, it looks like if I paired all my summer wants together, I'd have one rocking seventies outfit! hah

What are some things you are dying for this summer, even if they are not fashion related? Let me know!

Friday/Saturday Fives

NOTE: I wrote this on Friday the 13th but never got around to actually posting it. Therefore, dear reader, you need to go back into your Friday form for this to truly work. Whether you just got home from college so you were in your pj's all day (jealous) or you were drinking by 3pm (like me, rough day, try not to be a judgy bitch...) or you just had the typical Friday-the-13th-superstitious shit going on...whatever it may be, get back into that frame of mind, albeit quite painful for some. Are we there? Gooood. Let's continue!

While Blogger, my school email account, and several other of my morning websites are DOWN (what is going on Mr. Internet?), I have little to keep me occupied during my free morning periods! What's a bored teacher to do? Write lesson plans, put grades in? HA - been there, already done that, look at this teacher goooo! So with lessons written and grades in place, what's really left? Well, write a blog post inside of a word document (to later place in the aforementioned failed blogger) about her top five favs in five different categories in honor of the fifth month and fifth day of the week and in place of the usual five Friday facts (a whole lot of fives and a whole lot of f words in that last sentence...yep, f words, I said it.)

(I got this idea from elleandblair.com - great site - but then I made it five times better...or bigger...whichever.)

TOP FIVE BEAUTY MUST-HAVES

(Gotta look hot on that island where people are apparently forced by gunpoint to take a trivial amount of shit....riiiight).
1. Purity Facial Cleanser
2. Revlon Colorstay Foundation
3. Bronzer (no specific kind)
4. Mascara (again, not too picky)
5. Rosebud Lip Salve

TOP FIVE FASHION MUST-HAVES
(You know, in case alll of my clothes are stolen by closet gnomes and I just happen to leave a letter behind to let them know to not take these items!)
1. Scarves (no brainer for me)
2. Wedges
3. Skinny Jeans
4. Black Tanks
5. Leather Jackets

TOP FIVE FAVORITE DANCE-ANYTIME SONGS
(Because you and I both know you dance in your car....a lot)
1. Haven't Met You Yet - Michael Buble
2. I Do - Colbie Calliat
3. Dog Days are Over - Florence + The Machine
4. Good Vibrations - Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch (seriously...not kidding...)
5. Bigger than my Body - John Mayer

TOP FIVE FEEL-GOOD READS
(Who knew feeling good can make you smarter, too?!)
1. Bridget Jones's Diary
2. Breakfast at Tiffany's
3. The BFG (classic - love Roald Dahl!)
4. The Carrie Diaries
5. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (a teacher feel-good, perhaps)

TOP FIVE FAV EATS
("Oooh I just looove eating broiled salmon with dry brown rice" - suuuuure ya do, bitch. Let's pick the not healthy favs!)
1. Spaghetti & Vodka Sauce (with tons of Parmesan cheese)
2. Baked Mac n Cheese
3. Tacos & Spanish Rice
4. Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup
5. BBQ Burger & Sweet Potato Fries

Hope you enjoyed my lists of favorites - what are some of your all-time favs in any of the above categories? Or even in something completely unrelated? I'd love for you to share your thoughts :)

OH - here's a mini OOTD : Teacher Edition for you, too!

Floral Tank - Target (love their stuff right now)
Open Cardigan - Nordstrom (kimono sleeves with lace detail - yessss)
Scarf - H&M (a lot of my scarves come from here)
Pants - Metro (shop at college - miss it!)
Shoes - JustFab.com
Ring - Forever21 (shocker)
Watch - Marc by Marc Jacobs (featured in April Favorites)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend - you can go back to your Saturday state of mind now. Thanks for playing along!

Until next time, farewell lovahs....

TGIFF (Thank Goodness it's Friday Facts!)

Well, I don't know if these bad boys will be keeping up much longer, as I am royally boring and will run out of facts in no time at all! But, there are no hauls to be had, no reviews to be read, nor are there any (exciting) outfits to be overlooked. Therefore, it's onto the facts!
1. I am a blonde...dying to be a brunette (pun slightly intended). I have grown up with extremely blonde hair. Over the years, it has grown into a livable shade of sunny blonde, but the days when I was still waiting for the silver to turn white (and for the white to turn even a smidgen of blonde) still plague me and therefore leave me longing for a darker hue - since I was about 12. My mother would disown me if I ever dreamed of actually touching dye to my hair, despite the fact that all three of my siblings have done it and still do. I suppose I do have nice natural highlights and yadda yadda but the grass is always greener - or the hair always darker - on the other side. I'll never do it, but it's my secret dream to be a raven-haired beauty.

2. I've never broken a bone (nor been stung by those nasty bees). I must have had a sheltered childhood or perhaps we can chalk it up to me just straying from danger, but after multiple spills and even a nasty car accident years ago, I've yet to crack (pun entirely intended this time). I could just be a superhero waiting to find her true calling, but it's probably just luck. Watch, I've jinxed it now. Today, I'll trip wearing my heels, break my ankle, and my hand will land on a bee who stings me and I'll be allergic and be rushed to the hospital with a swollen face and ankle. Ok, hypothetical situation over. No bones broken and no bee stingers in me....yet.

3. Another secret confession....I was a cheerleader for far too many years. I started in the fourth grade as a result of trying everything else (and I do mean everything!) before falling on cheering. I ended up being pretty decent so I stuck with it until college. I wanted to live my life in college without practices and competitions and games dictating what I did, much like they would all throughout my younger years. I'm happy with my decision, but I must admit, I miss being tossed up into the air (as long as they'd catch me...which didn't always happen...now #2 seems even more impressive, no? Maybe? Ok..) The uniform and pom pons are put away for good. Can I get a g-double o-d? Good.

4. I nap....every single day. No, I'm not in kindergarten but I sure do act like it when I come home from work and pass out for up to an hour each day (I cut myself off after 60 mins of snoozing). It's a sick habit I started in college and if you hang out with me anytime between 3-4 and I'm not napping, you're going to know I didn't nap....enter cranky bitch. I need my naps. Me without them is like pb without j, harry without sally, Lindsay Lohan without a jail sentence...it just wouldn't be right. I look forward to them every day. Sundays...I often take two. And that's after sleeping in. Sunday is truly my "day of rest" so don't come to me preaching about me wasting my life. I'd be a waste of a person without my childish nap, that much I'll tell you!

5. I'm afraid of the dark. This must really sound like I'm a child now. I really am terrified of dark places. I never watch scary movies, paranormal junk gives me the creeps, and I sleep with my TV on which only wastes energy and doesn't save me from anything (trust me, I know I'm a loser!) I run to the bathroom in the middle of the night only to rush right back into my bed. Now if you didn't think I was a lunatic before, you surely will think so now. I'm the girl who is 23 and acts like she's 2. The dark is just too risky for me.

There you have it, five Friday facts. Have anything in common with me? Probably not this Friday considering they were all off-the-wall facts that make me just prove to the world how odd I am. Such is life, though, and I wouldn't change it.

Keep on keeping on...until next time, farewell Friday friends.

Friday, Friday, Getting Down on Friiiday

Had to, sorry. Moving on...

This isn't an exciting post but it IS another five Friday facts for your reading pleasure. I did close to nothing today which was fantastic because the weather was positively dreadful.  The boyfriend and I also have a special date night tomorrow so I decided to do the whole face mask, mani, pedi, bubble bath extravaganzaaaa in lieu of getting drinks with my sisters. I also went on a VERY mini haul to CVS after watching youtubers and reading beauty blogs. I bought the Revlon Colorstay foundation and matching concealer...didn't even realize the dude at the register did not give me the buy one/get one 50% off deal until after I got home...the jerk face! Does he know nothing about great beauty deals? Sigh...Also, I did a great deal of web surfing so before the real post, here's a mini post on that!

[If you are into beauty just as much as I am, two GREAT websites to check out are elleandblair.com and the just released thebeautydepartment.com - the first is a site created by two of the best beauty gurus from youtube & the second is actually Lauren Conrad's new site with her hair & makeup artists! I love Lauren Conrad so this site is awesome; both sites include a lot of good tips and just random posts that bring out the girly girl in all of us. I spent much of my time on both of these websites today during my lazy hours! Also, another youtuber that's great is MissGlamorazzi's channel. What are some of your favorite beauty websites or favorite beauty youtubers?]

Ok, side notes over....onto the real post!
1. I have two parakeets.  I must truly be the queen of impulsive purchases, because both birds were purchased, well, quite impulsively. I went with my mom on a random food run for the pets and ended up buying birds. I call them love birds even though they aren't technically love birds. They are named Auzlow (boy) and Luna (girl). I love their names more than I love their constant squawking (which is only annoying when I'm trying to nap or iChat with friends) but they are both pretty stinking cute. Auzlow (mainly blue with navy and white detailing) is named such because I love the name but my parents told me they would never accept it if I named my future son "Auzlow" so my male bird got the title. Luna (mainly white with blue and black detailing) got her name because I love Harry Potter and Luna Lovegood is so ridiculously weird that she is ridiculously awesome. Luna and Auzlow are two peas in a pod and they both love bopping around to Silversun Pickups and La Roux (esp. Auzlow!)
(Auzlow during the first week I got him...about two years ago.)

2. I have never seen Titanic. I never thought this was weird until I told someone this fact in college and they literally gasped. I'm not a huge movie buff, but I have become more of a movie watcher in the recent years than I was back in the Titanic days. I really don't have any intention of watching it, either, which might make this fact even more earth shattering. Sorry, hopeless romantics, not happening.

3. I'm ambidextrous....by definition....but a true left-handy at heart. I only write with my left hand and do everything else right-handed (i.e. cutting, using a mouse, tumbling, golfing, throwing....you get the point). I write better cursive with my right but use my left for normal hand-writing. My twin is right-handed, as is everyone else in my family. My mother was left-handed but she attended a strict all-girls school in elementary and they required all students to write right-handed....so boring, so trivial! Perhaps that is how I got my ambi talent, but I love being a left-handed kiddo, too. In my Latin class (still no idea why I took it for three years!) in high school, exactly half of the students were left-handed....cool, right? Maybe? I thought so.

4. I still sleep with my baby blanket. There. I said it. Gifted to me by my grandmother, who died when I was only 2. My twin brother had a matching blue one but who knows where it is now. Mine, on the other hand, is now in three pieces and I must count all three before I go to bed, just so I know they are all there. It is so childish, but I love love love my blanket, such a great source of comfort. In college, I roomed with seven other girls during sophomore year (WHYYYY, I still ask myself!) and 3 of us still slept with our baby blankets. One of my roommates actually had hers no matter where she was in our place...she'd bring it to the dinner table even! That's dedication.

5. When I'm not out, I'm in a ridiculously huge fuzzy robe. Hello, Rachel Zoe. Doesn't it seem like she always did the same thing on her Bravo show? Either way, it is my version of changing into sweats, which I sometimes do, but my robe will still go over them. I love my robe, it makes me feel much more glamorous even if I'm slumming around with nowhere to go. I also have another robe which I always wear when I'm doing my hair and makeup...it's much lighter and shorter so I don't sweat off while drying my hair and/or doing my makeup.

Sorry these facts were no fun, but perhaps you also share one or more of these traits? The baby blanket? The ambi hands? The fuzzy robe? Share your "about me" facts, I'd love to read them!

Also, if you have used Revlon Colorstay, I'm dying to know your thoughts. I heard so many good things from people online that I just went for it. I'm trying it out tomorrow before "date night" so hopefully it looks good! Hope you all enjoy your holiday weekend :)

TGIF

As bloggers, we tend to have this wonderful page full of information on whatever it is our heart so desires, but we (some of us, anyways...me included!) tend to neglect the straight-forward, fact-of-the-matter aspect to ourselves, so to go hand-in-hand with my Sunday Photos, I will post 5 facts on Friday about yours truly. It's just a chance for you to see me in a different light, so let's go for it & see how it works.

1. I am a twin. He was born 2 minutes before me, the jerk-face. I love him dearly, though. We have the same first initial so my parents always called us "TnT" because we were truly explosive in attitude and behavior as youngsters...and even now, I suppose.
TnT - (this was on vacation so we are, uh, slightly drunk in this photo,
so excuuuse the blank faces  & sunburned skin)

2. I was a fashion student....for one hot semester. Yes, I know (if you have read my posts before) that I now educate our youth. Such was not the case when I first started college however many years ago. I was a fashion frenzied, starry-eyed gal with big dreams to be this amazing fashion editor. Then, one day, my mind just flipped on another switch, and I knew at that moment, I was in the wrong place. Teaching and education was always in the back of my mind but it never really stood up against my interest in fashion. After leaving my fashion final (in which I let three of my fellow fashion friends cheat off of me because I did have quite the knack for it....stop, I'm not bragging. If anything, I'm admitting my fault in being a bad student), I left campus the same day and set foot on a different path...one that led me to where I am today...and I love that.

3. I am terrified of spiders. An uncontrollable, overtly awful, irrational fear of spiders. The tiniest, littlest eight-legger can send me into full blown panic. Other crawlies give me the creeps too (stink bugs, EW!) but none of them hold a candle to spiders. Last week, I even stood on my teacher chair, shaking like a leaf, as one of my students came up and killed a spider for me...(way to go Miss Smith, really showing your students how to be!) Even photos of them make my heart race with fear, as if it will jump off the page and eat my face. I'm completely normal not normal.....

4. I have one tattoo and I got it almost a year ago. My sister's fiance is a tattoo artist and I am always one for impulsive things. I thought about what I wanted, why I wanted it, and decided it'd be perfect to do it the day I decided to...all in a month. It just came to me and stuck with me immediately. It's the roman numeral four and it's on my left forearm (because I'm left-handed), right before the bend in my elbow (does that place have a name?) I got it because I am the fourth child in my family and I was born in the fourth month of the year (birthday is ten days from today, actually!) I chose to do a roman numeral because I'm also a writer and I did a series of poems with roman numerals to represent them as a series on the same female character. I always enjoyed the fourth poem in that set the most, so I decided it was a perfect fit. I got the tattoo on the last day of the fourth month....at four p.m. I know, a bit thorough, but I am big with patterns and archetypes. Hence making this fact #4....ok, I'm done now!
(the day after I got it)

5. I have a very (sometimes very) abrasive, honest-to-goodness, take-it-or-leave it personality. I don't sugarcoat it, I can be brash at times, but I never use humor to make you feel less about yourself, because honey, that's just not how I operate. I do, however, use it just about any and every other time, because laughter can cure almost anything. I think my humor and stand-out personality came from being the youngest in a big family (well, a normal-sized family of BIG personalities) and I was determined to find my own footing, regardless of what anyone said. I swear like a sailor (even my brother tells me to cool it...but I do cool it in front of my students...never slipped once!), I use the word "bitch" endearingly (just ask my sisters) and as honest as I am, I am also one of the most ridiculously loving people on the planet. It's a perfect combination that I've developed in my 22 years and I have no one but myself to blame for it. And that, my friends, is just the way I like it.

There you have it, five basic facts for Friday. Feel free to make this a "TAG" and write 5 facts about yourself every Friday. What are your plans for tonight/this weekend?; shopping, drinks, dinner, movies? Whatever you're doing, enjoy yourself and those around you. Keep on keeping on and life will be good to you in return.

Farewell, my Friday lovahs. Until next time....
