Wrapped Wednesday

Considering the holidays are really just around the corner (or a straight-shot to the weekend, actually), I thought I'd make my WW a festive one....sort of...
What is something every girl thinks about around this time?
Something that sparkles?!
Something that shines?!
Obviously.
I mean that in the sequin-glitter way, ladies, as I am not looking for any bling-bling this holiday season, reeeeelax! (You can breathe easy, too, SSB!)

The scarf I am highlighting today has a hint of sparkle and shine and still keeps me warm and cozy no matter the season. It's subtle enough to not look like I purchased it from a teeny-bopper store, but bold enough to make a statement no matter the outfit pairing.

Ombre Scarf from Express
I bought this as a birthday present to myself (don't we all do that?!) and have loved it dearly ever since. It literally makes any outfit look that much better. The two-tone effect gives it even more wearability, as well, so this bad boy is a front-runner on the wall of scarves. The others are jealous of its sparkly attitude, it's clearly a diva......
{I know the bottom two don't look like it, but the ends are looped through -- the effect usually looks very polished & not quite as plain as it is portrayed in the above photos, my bad!}

The "T" Tie -- Very simple but gives a very polished effect, too!
1. Wrap the scarf around your neck once (the classic way)
2. Bring both ends up into the loop and pull them through.
3. Adjust as needed!
(Sometimes I tie the loops after or even "twirl" the circular part to give a braided effect.)
....like I said, simple but polished. This has been my recent go-to style!

I am hoping Santa is nice this year and brings me a new scarf or two for the collection. Perhaps my next "WW" will be a new scarf that was a Christmas present....one can only hope ;)

Until next time, hope you're keeping warm and wrapped up this Wednesday.......................

Wrapped Wednesday

{yes, I totally posted this before adding the photos, go this girl, let's hear it for one CRAY-ZAY week and blame it on that, k ;) k!}

Way to go, SS, you put this up on the right day this time!

Color me surprised......and the only reason I'm using such a terrible phrase is because I feel it fits quite well with my scarf of choice this week!

F21 Black & Floral Scarf
I actually bought this scarf because I had a plethora of solids and not very many fun prints. When I came across this little number during one of my many F21 strolls, I knew it had to be mine.
Why?
I mean, it is the perfect combination of dark and light, it's girly but not too feminine, lightweight but still long enough to keep me warm...the scarf is simply the perfect balance of opposites, how fantastic is that?!

Wear with:
1. An all black outfit for a pop of color.
2. Retro flares, white button-down, and floppy felt hat.
3. Blush tone blazer, slim-fit trousers, and brown blouse for work.
4. Leather jacket, maxi skirt, and motorcycle boots.
**Can you tell you can pair this with just about any outfit? Another reason to love this scarf!

I don't like to get too crazy with folding this scarf up and around my neck because I want the full effect of black-meets-bright, but considering it's a longer scarf, try this out if you have a similar lengthy style you want to bulk up around your neck for the colder months!

The Bulky Braid
1. Wrap around neck.
2. Take one end and wrap it twice around your neck (once if you're using a shorter scarf).
3. Take that end and loop it through either hole and pull through.
4. Take the other end and stuff it into either hole but do not pull through.
Very chic result, no?

Let's hear it for the fourth installment of Wrapped Wednesday....that was actually posted on a Wednesday (but posted before I realized there were NO photos, thanks blogger buds!) Woot woot!

Until next time, stay warm in those scarves, folks, because the weather is getting chilly chilly so very soon.........

Scarf Sunday!

{So I forgot to post this during the actual Wednesday it should have been up.....don't judge me with those judge-y eyes!}

He-low, lads & ladies! Today, we here have a Wrapped Wednesday Scarf Sunday that will take ye to the Scottish lands. So grab ye kilts and hold on tight!

Alright, I'm done, I tried, the accent is just too much! (I think that sounded more "pirate" anyways....my bad!)

This week's scarf is one of my favorites (do I say that every WW now?!) because it's a bold pattern but still matches everything (well, I normally wear solid colors...so for my wardrobe, it matches everything!) Here in North America, we just consider it a plaid scarf, but those Scottish fellers call it "tartan" -- so please do not call it "Tartan Plaid" as that is ridiculously redundant...like when people say they need to go to the "ATM Machine"....uuhhhh, what does the "M" stand for in that acronym, genius?! Infuriating!
{enter awkward facial expression......aaaaand scene.}

Does the Scottish intro make sense now?! Maybe?!

I actually wore this scarf a lot in college, considering I purchased it during junior year (awesome memory, I know). I had more than a handful of people compliment the scarf and say, "Awesome, a tartan scarf!" and of course my response on the outside was, "Yeah, totally, thanks!" and on the inside, I was all "Uhh, it's plaid but whatever, smile and nod!"

I recently just wore this scarf with:
--Black skinnies, my Aldo boots, a white tee, and blush-tone leather jacket...love.

I also love wearing this with:
--Classic blue skinnies, brown boots, and a black crewneck sweater....so preppy of me!
--Black maxi skirt, white v-neck tee, and a slouchy beanie...hippy meets Scottish?!
--Dark dress pants, white button-up (or button-down?!), blush blazer...the Tartan scarf is my "kilt at work" attire....get it?! Maybe? No? Fine.

I usually wear this scarf just around my neck, nothing special, but for very cold days, try this trick with your wool (and wool plaid) scarves!
1. Wrap around neck, throw both ends behind & bring back around to front.
2. Take the left end and tuck it UP into the loop/hole.
3. Take the right end and tuck it DOWN into the loop/hole.

Before I finish this Scottish rant, for those who want a laugh, look at this -- Glossary of Scottish Terms. Truly my kind of place seeing as how they have about 10 words that mean drunk........

Until next time, I bid you farewell, fellow non-Scottish-jargon-speakers...........

Wrapped Wednesday

Wow, I have done it again....I've stuck to my guns and here you have another WW....I won't lie, feel pretty good I stuck with it this time around, but I won't get hasty on the celebration just yet, seeing as how this could fade faster than my first color job.

I chose this week's scarf because it probably was one of the founding fathers to my collection. I bought it simply because my friend back in high school told me it matched my eyes really well. Who can argue with a compliment?!....besides me when SSB gives one, that is, and he's trying to break me of the habit....

"You look really nice tonight!"
"Oh, so I suppose I looked like shit on our date the other night?!"
"Welp, I tried, let's just get in the car."
............or maybe he's just accepting defeat.

Anywho, it's a scarf from H&M and during my one dreaded semester in fashion school, I wore this sucker with almost everything...and it is one of the scarves I'd rock to bed, too (if this sounds odd, you can feel free to watch this video here for more of an explanation.) It became a wearable security blanket for me, it truly did.
I have many-a solid color scarves in the good ol' collection, but this one will always be my favorite, my go-to for a pop of something extra, and remind me of the time I tripped during a wind storm in college (the wind pushed me to fall!) and put a hole in the scarf....while the cross country boys ran past....god, I'm a walking disaster! I also would somehow get spaghetti sauce on this scarf all the time...and not notice until someone else did. Who eats that much spaghetti, honestly?! Me, I suppose. Hot mess.

I love pairing this scarf with:
--An all black outfit for that "pop" of something extra.
--A navy or teal sweater for a contrasting blue hue theme.
--A great tan blazer because I fucking love tan and blue....you should, too ;)

I usually just do the normal loop, but here's something slightly more fun to do with your solid-colored scarves:

1. Fold the scarf.
2. Warp around your neck.
3. Pull ONE of the ends through the loop.
4. Twist the looped portion.
5. Pull the other end through.

A different "twist" on the classic loop!

Do you have a wearable security blanket? I have a leather jacket I worship as well, but nothing compares to the wear-and-tear of this bad boy!

Until next time, farewell WW readers, I love you all (and so do my scarves!)..........

Wrapped Wednesday is BACK!

......It never really left, though. It just barely existed. Like that relationship you tried having every year on your beach vacation when you were in high school, convinced you would find true love in the five-seven days you were there. You knows whats I'm talking 'bout, ladies, don't deny it! That kind of barely existed.....but alas, here we have........
With fall officiated on the calendar (finally!), it seems no better time to start this back up. My first and only WW can be found here. I will do my very best to try and keep up with this throughout the fall season. In case you haven't seen the collection in its entirety in past posts (or, rather, in the one post it was in), here it is in all its glory, hanging above my bed like the perfect piece of wall art....
Today's scarf is a newer one to the collection but it caught my eye before writing this post (and it stands out like a sore thumb in the above photo), so it gets the spotlight today. The others are jealous, sure, but those bitches will get their turns in due time...except for the random silk one my grandmother gave me that's covered in pictures of heels and stilettos. Actually, maybe I should highlight than one since it's hilarious. Another time, my darlings!

{since it IS so long, I tend to use this very easy trick...}
{voila! long scarf turned all snuggly!}

Scarf from Forever21
I bought this during F21's online efforts to raise money for Japan. 100% of the online proceeds went to the relief efforts, and even though I never bought online from their store before (though I constantly browse it), I thought this was a great reason to start my online shopping spree with F21. Selfish? Maybe. Still helpful? Definitely.

I think this pairs well with a lot of outfits, even though it has such a wild print.
Pair it with dark jeans, sleek brown boots, and a simple white v-neck for a cool daytime look.
Wear it with a simple black dress and your favorite heels to spice up a date-night outfit.
Rock it with a leather jacket and tough boots to look like a serious bad ass (my everyday goal, of course).

Printed scarves have a big place in my heart, and this one is certainly no exception. GREAT color scheme for fall, too!

There you have it, WW is back and busting out with a fall feel. Let's hope SS can stick to this ;)
(Apparently I love when the same letters are paired together?!)

Until next time, farewell lovahs.....

It's a Wrap

My first "WW" of many to come. I thought about doing one big post on my collection, but it's a relatively big collection (they are my favorite accessory after all!) so doing one every week seemed to suffice much better. If they are terribly boring and watching paint dry becomes more interesting, let me know, and I'll cool it on the scarf posts.

My first "WW" scarf is, perhaps, one of my favorite "go-to" pieces for spring and summer. I found it at Wet Seal (yes, that store hurts my eyes anymore and I loathe the way everything looks so overtly trendy and [sometimes] trashy) but I found it in (roughly) 2007 after I spotted Nicole Richie wearing the now infamous skull scarf from the Alexander McQueen collection. I found it sitting in a pile of random pieces (i.e. socks, underwear, etc.) and was amazed at how close it looked to the "real deal" for only....hold on to your britches....EIGHT dollars. I was instantly in love. I plan on buying the real scarf in the near future (in a different color, for a bit of variety, of course!), but I will still go back to this little gem; after all, he's part of the family, and you can't just get rid of family (well you can but you'd be a terrible person..i don't judge though...)

Here's the McQueen versus my scarf....pretty damn close, in my opinion. The clear differences: mine does not have as many skull prints, mine is of a slightly weaker fabric, and my scarf has three lines outlining it as opposed to two. Oh, and of course, mine doesn't have one of the greatest designers of all time written on the corner....damnit. Note: There are other McQueen skull scarves made with a border of smaller skulls in place of the black stripes, and I do believe this skull border is the newer version. Do no quote me on that, though.

Note: I have actually not stepped foot into a Wet Seal since buying this scarf, regardless of how amazing the find was - I'm sure fate just pulled me in that day to find my little beaut. However, if you need a reason to hate this store, here's a definite killer. Wet Seal sold a shirt in their stores and online in late 2010 with a major spelling error. "If your single, so am I." Can you find the error? Somehow this shirt got through many, many people in marketing, production, etc. and none of them noticed, so don't fault yourself. I'm an English teacher, though, so the error makes my eyes water with disgust. On top of that, the statement is just ridiculously awful and cheesy - even my 8th graders wouldn't dare wear such a heinous top!

How do YOU feel about scarves? If you live in a continually warm climate, I'm jealous of you, but I still love my scarves all the same. Do you have a favorite accesory or accesories that you cannot live without? If so, post them on your blog and I'll be sure to take a look!
